Privacy Policy

Summary

IRCya is an IRC client. It is built to collect as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not sell or share your data. The only information we ever receive is information you choose to send us: feedback you submit, and diagnostic data you opt in to.

Your IRC activity stays between you and the servers you choose

When you connect to an IRC server, your messages, nickname, and the channels you join are sent directly to that server, which is operated by a third party we do not control. IRCya is a conduit — we do not receive, store, or have access to your IRC messages or to the servers and channels you use. Your activity on any IRC network is governed by that network’s own policies.

Your servers, channels, and message history are stored only on your device. Server passwords and authentication credentials are stored only on your device in the iOS Keychain and are never transmitted to us.

Feedback form

If you submit the feedback form on this website, we receive what you send: a summary, the details, and your email address if you choose to provide one. It is used only to read and respond to your feedback. We do not log the IP address of feedback submissions.

Diagnostic data (opt-in)

To find and fix crashes and performance problems, IRCya can send us technical diagnostic data using Apple’s MetricKit framework. This is turned off by default. Nothing described in this section is sent unless you turn it on, or choose to send it, inside the app. (Apple also only makes some of this data available when you have “Share With App Developers” enabled in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.)

Automatic diagnostics — only if you enable them

If you switch on “Share Diagnostics” in IRCya’s settings, the app may automatically send anonymous technical data:

This automatic data does not include your name, email, IRC nickname, the names or addresses of servers and channels you use, message content, contacts, location, or any advertising identifier.

Detailed crash reports — only when you choose to send one

After a crash, IRCya may offer to send a more detailed report to help us reproduce the problem. This can include the server and channel involved, your nickname, your settings, and an optional description you write. A detailed report is never sent automatically. You are shown exactly what the report contains, you can remove any field before sending, and you must tap Send. We use it solely to fix the specific problem.

How diagnostic data is handled

Apple’s own crash reporting

Separately from the above, if you have enabled “Share With App Developers” in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized, aggregated crash statistics with us through App Store Connect. This is controlled by Apple and by your iOS settings, not by IRCya.

Your choices

Children

IRCya is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
